NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 1 is finally available, garnering critical acclaim on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. The PC version has its share of issues, but they’re overshadowed by how bad the Nintendo Switch version is. On top of poor performance, fans have criticized the low-quality visuals and character models.

Director and series creator Ed Boon addressed this on BBC Newsbeat and confirmed that the Switch version will “absolutely be getting an update.” He also promised that recent concerns and issues would be addressed, but didn’t provide specifics or an ETA. One such concern is the lack of content in Invasion mode. Only the intro is available, with the rest of the seasonal content releasing in the coming weeks.

“It would have been ideal for us to have released the version that we absolutely wanted. But anything that we’re finding a problem with is on our list and is going to be fixed.” As for those who bought (and didn’t refund) or want to own it on Switch, Boon said, “It will be supported like we did with Mortal Kombat 11. Anything that we see that is not acceptable will absolutely be addressed.”

Shiver Entertainment, which also worked on Mortal Kombat 11, and Saber Interactive handled the Nintendo Switch port. QLOC developed the PC port, while NetherRealm focused on the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions.

Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks, and check out our review of the game in the meantime.
