While Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake achieved an impressive 6.48 million units sold, the remakes for Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 continue to sell well. According to the publisher’s updated Platinum Titles list, the former is at 13.6 million units sold since launching in 2019, up from its last milestone of 13.13 million sold.

Resident Evil 3 remake is at 8.4 million copies sold, with its previous milestone being 8.04 million sold. Total lifetime sales for the Resident Evil series are at 154 million, up from 150 million, which means an additional four million titles sold over the three months ending December 31st, 2023.

Aside from recently launching Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition, Capcom hasn’t commented on the franchise’s future. Rumors indicate that five titles are allegedly in development including Resident Evil 9 and more remakes. With the next mainline game reportedly coming in 2025, there may be an announcement sometime this year, so stay tuned.
