Following its sudden announcement at the Xbox Games Showcase last month, Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will receive a worldwide reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live. Host and producer Geoff Keighley revealed that it would kick off the trade fair in a “big way.”
Set after the events of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 in 2035, the story follows David Mason as he deals with an enemy who “weaponizes fear.” Based on the cinematic trailer, past nemesis Raul Menendez will play a role. Alongside single-player, the campaign will also support co-op.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 doesn’t have a release date, but it’s launching on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC later this year. Playtest details recently leaked, detailing new multiplayer modes like Overload, where two teams of six players battle to capture and deliver a “neutral EMP device.” There’s also Skirmish, a 40-player mode featuring point capture, payload destruction, and more.
Stay tuned for more updates on all this and more in the coming months. Gamescom Opening Night Live will take place on August 19th at 11 AM PDT. Among other appearing titles is Silent Hill f, which will receive a new trailer.
